Fun with Andrew

I was really concerned about how Andrew would do with Evie being gone 5 days a week. There was nothing to worry about at all. He is loving being the only child 3 days a week. I felt bad when he was a baby that he wasn't getting all the attention lavished on him that Evie had. I guess now is when I get to make up for that and give him lots of individual attention. Most mornings we just run errands but he can turn those into an adventure. The two of us are having lots of fun!

Checking out "the Tennessee man on the tower". We can't go into Walmart without stopping at this display. We went to a different Walmart and Andrew was not happy they didn't have a Lane Kiffin display.

A Sweet Necklace

Evie got her first jewelry from a boy this week. Her friend Caleb made her a necklace with her name on it. So sweet!

Game 2

We had game two for the soccer season this morning. Evie did a great job in her game! Andrew played right after her and was all fired up until the coach put the ball down for the first play. He ran off the field and said he didn't want to play. Phil and I both talked to him and tried to encourage him but he just wasn't having any part of it. Evie came over, rubbed his back, and told him if he fell down he should just get up. He said okay and ran into the game. We now know the key is for him to hear it from his sister! He scored his first goal...for the other team, but we were celebrating small victories today!

Evie driving the ball. She earned her blue star for best effort this week!
Goal! ~ She had to work a little harder against this team's goalie

Andrew's 4th Birthday Party!

I scheduled Andrew's birthday party months ago at the splashpad for Saturday morning so the kids could play and then we could grill out for lunch. A week before the party I found out that the start to soccer season got bumped up a week, so we switched the party to late afternoon. We left our house around 3 and it was sunny. It started lightly raining as we arrived at the park, but looked like it would clear up so we started setting everything up. A few minutes later it came a downpour. Rain was blowing into the shelter and a river was running through it. We covered the pinata and cookie cake with towels to salvage them, but everything else got wet. I ended up standing on the picnic table (had a feeling of deja vu from our camping trip) to stay dry while I called our friends to tell them to hold off on coming and meet us at Burger King in an hour. Our sweet friends were more concerned with how I was handling it and what they could do to help instead of being irritated at yet another change in plans for the day. Andrew ended up having a wonderful party and all the kids had a great time!

The original plan

Card from Kate~Andrew picked it up and read "Happy Birthday to Andrew. Love, Kate" It was very cute! (for some reason I can't get blogger to upload it rotated...)
