Bargain shopping

Phil used to think I was insane for buying gifts a year in advance, but after six years he is used to it and has come to appreciate it. I have Christmas presents, birthday presents, lunchboxes, and more stashed in the house that I have gotten great deals on by shopping the clearance racks. Target is one of my favorite places to find a bargain, and they didn't disappoint today with their 90% off sale on Easter merchandise. My kids don't read this blog, so I can share what I got them for Easter next year and the year after that too. Four baskets, two chicks, princess eggs, and a Minnie and Mickey for less than $6 (yes, that means regular price was $57.90)!

Incredible season

Thursday night ended an incredible season for the Vols mens basketball team. Phil and I went to a UT basketball game on our very first date during the 2000-2001 season. We would have never believed the program could go through such a huge transformation in such a short time. Below are some highlights from the season. Andrew with Papaw--I was a little busy with the kids to take lots of pictures during this trip to visit Mamaw, Papaw, Auntie Laura, and Mimi. We had lots of fun and the kids got cute Easter bags from Mimi!

Bob the Ladybug

We had a great time playing outside in the beautiful weather today! Evie found a little ladybug that she and Andrew carried around for quite a while. I asked her what its name was and without hesitation she said, "Bob." She got really attached to Bob in the 15 minutes that they were friends, so she was heartbroken when he fell off her hand and got away in the backyard. We reassured her that she would see him again since he lived right outside our house, so I think every ladybug we see this summer is going to be Bob.

clothing sale

Our church held its annual scholarship consignment sale this week. It is a lot of work for so many people, but I love it! The shoppers gets some great deals on clothes, the consignors make a little money, and the preschool is able to offer scholarships from the money raised. I always find tons of cute dresses for Evie. Poor Andrew only got two pairs of shorts, but boys are just hard on clothes and most boys probably have fewer clothes to begin with. By working 12 hours I got to shop the pre-sale before the public, but I ended up buying more stuff at the half price sale. Evie has already modeled all 31items I bought for her. She is such a girly-girl!

SEC Champs!

I was very surprised this morning when I found out that men's basketball team clinched the SEC championship with a win over Florida last night. It wasn't looking good for the Vols when I went to bed at halftime. I'm thrilled for the team and for Coach Pearl, but I am very excited because my husband will be buying a new hat! He has been wearing the same hat since the 1998 football national championship and refused to buy another one, but he agreed he would get a new one if the men won the SEC outright. HoundDogs here we come! I just decorated the blog for St.Patrick's Day, but be warned all you non-UT fans that it may turn obnoxiously orange soon! GO VOLS!

Ice Cream!

We took the kids to get ice cream tonight at Bruster's. They were so excited that they were literally bouncing all over the parking lot! They called it a "jama party" and ate italian ice in the back of the Pilot. This was such a huge treat for them. We did learn a few things for next time though:
1. Do not fill them full of sugar and then try to go home and put them to bed.
2. Yes, it is pajama day but you will be going home to change into non-sticky pajamas so you can just throw pajamas on them at some point during the day and go get ice cream. You don't save any clothing changes by waiting until the evening to go.
3. Ask the nice counter girl to only give them a little bit of icee, not a full size scoop.
