1st day of Preschool
Evie and Andrew went to their first day of preschool this year. This was Andrew's very first time. They both had a great time. They were already through the door and playing before I got to say goodbye when I dropped them off at their classrooms.

Andrew's new bed
Nana and Papa got Andrew his big boy bedding for his birthday. I wanted to do a sports theme in his room, but just fell in love with this pattern. It is so cute and has all his favorite things. The company makes some wallies of the big trucks, trains, and planes so we are going to put those on the wall. Hopefully it will one day entice him to sleep in the bed! You can see the corner of a crib in one of the pictures. He is back in a crib after two long nights. We put Evie's old crib in his room last night because Mommy and Andrew need some sleep!

So perfect for a little boy!

Jail break!
We went to put Andrew in bed tonight and this is what we found. Nana and Papa watched the kids today so Phil and I could go out of town for my aunt's funeral. Either Papa forgot to mention Andrew broke his crib or was too distracted by the dirty diaper he was going to have to change to even notice. Andrew still doesn't want to sleep in his big boy bed, so he is sleeping on the crib mattress in the floor tonight. I was prepared for the day he would climb out of his crib, but I certainly wasn't expecting this!

1st Shiner
Andrew got his first black eye today. We were playing upstairs while I folded laundry. He came to give me a hug and then ran back down the hall. I heard, "Hey E.." and then smack. He turned his head sideways to say hi to Evie as he passed her room and ran into his door/doorframe. He cried a lot, but it didn't look too bad at first. It is getting more blue by the hour though. It should be a real beauty in the morning. I guess he isn't having his two year old portrait this week.

Haircut
I gave Andrew his first haircut today. He needed a trim in the back and I figured Mommy doing it was less traumatic than the barber shop. I snuck up behind him while he was watching Curious George. Bye-bye baby curls...

Visit from Auntie Laura
Phil has been in Atlanta this week, so Auntie Laura came down to help out. We took the kids to the splashpad, the mall, the park, and the playground. Evie and Andrew loved having her here and were completely exhausted by the time she had to go home.

Lydia's Baby Shower
My friend Janet and I hosted a baby shower for our good friend Lydia today. It was a really wonderful shower and I think the mommy-to-be had a great time. We did a rubber ducky theme that turned out really cute. I will post pictures when I get some. I forgot to take my camera :( If you have read the previous post about baby Soapy you are probably wondering why we didn't go crazy with the pink at the shower. Stanley and Lydia got a big surprise on Thursday when they had a second ultrasound and baby Sophie is actually a baby BOY. We had to make some last minute changes, but it was just an excuse to go shopping and pick out cute things all over again. We are very excited that William is going to have a baby brother and you guys know I have a weakness for baby boys...they are just so sweet!

Conversations with a 3 year old
There has been a baby boom among our friends this year and I have been waiting for Evie to start asking lots of questions about it. We have three birth announcements on our refrigerator right now and Evie loves to look at the baby pictures and ask what their names are. She is obsessed with whether or not baby Jackson has a bear. I think we will be getting him one for Christmas, just so she is absolutely sure he has his own bear.
She saw all the stuff for my friend Lydia's baby shower and wanted to go through it. I told her that was for Ms.Lydia and that she was having a baby. Evie said, "Did she name him William?" I told her, "William is already here, but they are having a new baby and she is still in Ms.Lydia's belly." Evie just stared at me for a few seconds. I braced myself for questions about the baby being in the belly, how it got in, how it is going to get out. Instead, here is the conversation we had. What are they going to name him? They are going to name her Sophie. {Long pause}Does Soapy have a dress? Yes. What color is it? I don't know because she can't wear her dresses yet. Does she have a purple dress? She probably has one in her closet. I like dresses. My dress is blue today. Can she come play in our sandbox? When she gets bigger. Does William have to share with Soapy? Yes, because she is his sister. Okay.
If you have never sat down with a three year old and had a long conversation, you should try it sometime. The way their little minds work is so fascinating. They see the world in such a simple, sweet way.

Splashpad
We met Rhonda, Sydney, and Kaitlyn at the splashpad today. It has been so hot this was the only way the kids were going to get to play outside.

Andrew loved the buckets that Sydney and Kaitlyn brought

Choo Choo
William came over this morning to play with us. We decided to head down to the playground. The kids were so excited to ride in the wagon. William made the choo-choo sounds for us. It was so cute. The wagon is made for 3 toddlers, but I learned that 75 pounds is a lot of kid to pull! We went down the slide a few times, but seeing the trains was much more exciting, so we watched the cars at the 4 way stop and waved at the trains.
